Product Brief Information

This specification covers seamless and welded black and hot-dipped galvanized steel pipe in NPS 1/8 to NPS 26. The steel categorized in this standard must be open-hearth, basic-oxygen or electric-furnace processed and must have the following chemical requirements: carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, copper, nickel, chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium. The tubing shall undergo a seamless or welding process. Tension, bend, and flattening tests shall be performed to make sure that it must adhere to the mechanical properties of the standard. The hydrostatic test shall be applied, without leakage through the weld seam or the pipe body. Nondestructive electric test shall be made to make sure that the full volume of the pipe must be in accordance with the standard. The purchaser shall have the right to perform any of the inspections and tests set forth in this specification where deemed necessary to ensure that the pipe conforms to the specified requirements.

With the development of industry, hot-dip galvanizing products have been applied in many fields. The advantage of hot-dip galvanizing is that the anti-corrosion period is long, and adapting to the environment has always been a popular anti-corrosion treatment method. It is widely used in power towers, communication towers, railways, highway protection, streetlight poles, marine components, building steel structural components, substation ancillary facilities, light industry, etc. The anti-corrosion years of hot-dip galvanizing are long-term, but the years of anti-corrosion are different in different environments: 13 years in heavy industry, 50 years in the ocean, 104 years in the suburbs, and 30 years in the city.

The principle of hot-dip galvanizing: the iron parts are cleaned, then treated with solvent, dried and then immersed in zinc liquid. The iron reacts with the molten zinc to form an alloyed zinc layer. The process is: degreasing--washing--washing-- Co-plating - drying - hot dip galvanizing - separation - cooling passivation.

The thickness of the hot-dip galvanized alloy layer mainly depends on the chemical composition such as the silicon content of the steel, the cross-sectional area of the steel, the roughness of the steel surface, the zinc pot temperature, the zinc immersion time, the cooling speed, and the cold rolling deformation.

Advantages of hot dip galvanizing

1. The surface of the steel pipe is more durable with anti-embroidery treatment, not too fast oxidation, and will not form white rust on the steel pipe;

2. The steel pipe is fully protected. After heating, each part of the steel pipe is plated with zinc, and the concave and convex parts are protected;

3. It has the characteristics of anti-corrosion and wear resistance, so that the steel pipe can be used for a longer time;

4. Since zinc has been plated on the outside of the steel pipe, the time for oiling or lacquering outside is omitted, and the construction is more convenient;

5. The galvanized steel pipe will not freeze and crack in three or nine days, and is especially suitable for the cold environment in the north.
