Global Crude Steel Production Fell 6% Year On Year In March

  On April 22, the World Steel Association (WSA) released global crude steel production data for March. In March, crude steel output of 64 countries and regions included in the statistics of the world steel association was 147.1 million tons, down 6.0% year on year. In the first quarter, global crude steel production was 443 million tons, down 1.4% year on year.

  In March, the crude steel output of Asia was 106 million tons, down 4.1% year on year; that of EU was 12.03 million tons, down 20.4% year on year; that of North America was 9.66 million tons, down 9.4% year on year; that of South America was 3.26 million tons, down 9.4% year on year; that of Middle East was 3.35 million tons, up 9.7% year on year; that of CIS was 8.26 million tons, down 6% year on year .2%.

  In the first quarter, the crude steel production in Asia was 315.2 million tons, down 0.3% year on year; in the European Union, 38.29 million tons, down 10.0% year on year; in North America, 29.52 million tons, down 4.0% year on year.

  From the perspective of key countries and regions, the Chinese mainland's crude steel output in March was 78 million 980 thousand tons, down 1.7% compared to the same period last year. India estimated crude steel output to be 8 million 650 thousand tons, down 13.9% compared to the same period last year. Japan estimated crude steel output to be 8 million 200 thousand tons, down 9.7% compared to the same period last year. Among EU countries, Germany's crude steel output is estimated to be 2.9 million tons, down 20.9% year on year; Italy's crude steel output is 1.37 million tons, down 40.2% year on year; France's crude steel output is estimated to be 1.2 million tons, down 13.2% year on year; Spain's crude steel output is 1.17 million tons, down 14.6% year on year. Crude steel production in the United States was 7.22 million tons, down 6.0% year on year. Russia's crude steel production is estimated to be 5.85 million tons, down 4.4% year on year; Ukraine's crude steel production is 1.77 million tons, down 10.3% year on year. Brazil's crude steel output was 2 million 640 thousand tons, down 8.2% year on year. Turkey's crude steel output was 3.11 million tons, up 4.1% year on year.
