In 2001, Hitachi Metals Co., Ltd. established Hitachi Metals (Suzhou) Electronics Co., Ltd. in Jiangsu. It was renamed in March 2010, increased capital and expanded, introduced a number of new high-tech projects, and became the group's important production base in China. The new plant will be completed in April 2011 and mass production will begin in December 2011. After the construction is completed, the total area of the new factory will reach 15,612 square meters, which will mainly produce piston ring materials for automobiles, metal targets, and pole materials for solar cells.
