Process technology

Development History

The API released the APl5L standard in 1926, initially including only A25, A, and B grades, with minimum yield values of 172, 207, and 241 MPa, respectively.

The API released the APl5LX standard in 1947, which added three grades of X42, X46 and X52 with minimum yield values of 289, 317 and 358 MPa.

Since 1966, four grades of X56, X60, X65 and X70 have been released, with minimum yield values of 386, 413, 448 and 482 MPa.

In 1972, the API released U80 and U100 standards, and the minimum yield values were 551 and 691Mpa respectively. Later, the API changed U80 and U100 to X80 and X100.

According to rough statistics, before the year 2000, the X70 dosage was around 40%, X65 and X60 were all around 30%, and the small-diameter refined oil pipelines also had a considerable number of X52 steel grades, and most of them were ERW steel pipes.

Regarding the X80 steel grade, there are many domestic and foreign discussions. The international giants who have invested heavily in the X80 development have actively promoted the X80 and even the X100. Today, the X80 has passed the "test phase", the world-famous West. The Qidongdong Second Line is more than 4,484 kilometers, all of which are X80 steel grade, and the West Third Line is also about 2,445 kilometers.

2012 latest version (forty-fifth edition) update instructions

In 2007, ISO and API jointly released the pipeline steel pipe standard ISO 3183:2007/API Spec 5L (44 version), which achieved the same worldwide standards. Although due to intellectual property and trade issues raised by the United States, the API terminated its cooperation with ISO in 2012, no longer participated in the drafting of ISO standards, and did not issue ISO standards in the future. However, the new version of the pipeline steel pipe standard is still the result of the joint cooperation between the ISO and the API standard joint working group. The content is the same except for the contents of the API monogram and the European onshore pipeline steel pipe order.

ISO 3183:2012/API Spec 5L (45 version) Compared with the previous version, the main technical change is to add two appendices: European onshore natural gas pipeline PSL 2 steel pipe order (Appendix M), thread and coupling calculation formula and Guided bending and Charpy impact calculation formula background (Appendix P), other technical changes in reference standards, manufacturing processes, performance indicators, inspection methods, etc., as well as a large number of editorial changes and textual adjustments. The new version of the standard is more complete and scientific.
